Experimenting with Drawing - Part I With Joe MacKechnie 

Drawing is a wonderful form of artistic expression in itself and is the very underpinning of fine art painting. This series of 5 classes will help you learn how to draw better than you ever thought you could.  It is suitable both for beginners and also for experienced artists that want a refresher to get them drawing again.

Those who have attended previous workshops were surprised at how fun and easy drawing can be with Joe’s novel approach. For example, you will learn getting things in the right place and right size without pain, complication or confusion. You will develop basic drawing skills using an approach that combines left and right brain abilities. Most of all, you will thoroughly enjoy yourself in a fun and non-intimidating environment. The workshop will have students with a range of skills from absolute beginners to advanced level artists. So you will fit right in even if you’ve never attended a workshop like this before.

Each session has lectures, demos and hands-on exercises. In the work sessions you will draw from live still-life setups and photographs. The fundamentals learned here apply to any subject matter.

Open to all mediums. Joe Mac Kechnie, Artist and Art Instructor, will assist you with your individual painting projects. If you paint in pastels, watercolor, oils, acrylics or mixed media, or if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced painter, Joe will coach you through your current art project. During the 5-week sessions, Joe will offer sound painting tips that apply to all painting mediums through demos and personal art instruction.

Frustrated that you can’t seem to make great portraits? Do you lack the necessary drawing skills? Are you tired of producing photographic style portraits?   This workshop will first review the basics of drawing and painting the portrait. Then will offer several approaches to making creative pictures. Finally, you will learn about the 6 basic emotions and how to portray them in the portrait setting. Every section will have a lecture, demo and lots of hands on experience. This workshop is suitable for beginners through advanced artists.
